Basic workers' compensation insurance requirements for employers

There are many different types of jobs that people have in Missouri. All of these jobs involve different requirements. Some involve more manual labor than others, people work different hours, different equipment is used at different jobs and many other differences. Due to these differences some jobs are more dangerous than others and therefore people can suffer injuries more easily at certain jobs. These injuries can be very devastating and create many difficulties for the injured workers.

Since these injuries can be so devastating for the worker, they may be entitled to workers' compensation benefits. These benefits can pay for the medical bills the worker incurs to deal with the injury and pay for a portion of the workers' income the person loses when they are unable to work. It is important that these benefits are paid to the injured workers though. So, to ensure this, many companies are required to have workers' compensation insurance which will pay the benefits.

Any company with more than five employees is required to have workers' compensation insurance. However, every construction company, even if they only have one employee must carry the insurance. Employees include part time, full-time, family members, officers of a corporation, seasonal and other types of employees. Other companies that do not meet these requirements can still opt to have insurance, however, even if they do not have the insurance they may still need to pay the workers' compensation benefits.

It is important that people in Missouri work and are able to earn an income to support themselves and their families. That is why it is important that injured workers receive workers' compensation benefits. However, even if the companies have insurance, they will try to save money and may try minimizing the severity of the injury. It is important that injured workers receive what they deserve and consulting an experienced attorney could be beneficial.
